The Veil of Forgetting in the Law of One

What is the Veil of Forgetting?

The veil of forgetting is a foundational pillar of the Law of One teachings.

It's the idea that life as we know it right now is veiled... meaning it's shrouded in mystery!

There is some sort of cosmic curtain of unknowing that is separating us from all the answers and veiling us from remembering who we are fully.

The veil of forgetting is like a galactic blackout curtain. Shielding our innocent Third Density experience from the everlasting light of infinite awareness.

Without it, we wouldn't have Free Will. There would be no sense of separation and no polarity.

In the same way a blackout curtain shields the darkness, and holds space during those precious hours of the early morning - The veil of forgetting offers us an honest experience.

It honours our free will and protects us during the serene slumber of Third Density consciousness.

Do you remember who you are? Who were you before?

In the biggest and smallest sense, you are one with the Universe. The One Infinite Creator.

The dream you woke from this morning is no more an illusion than your current waking life in Third Density. A dream within a dream where the only constant is an underlying sense of confusion...

Ask yourself...

What does it really mean to be alive right now?

Why does the rain fall from the sky? For what reason do we breathe in and out, transitioning from moment to moment..

What is actually going on?

Ah, the veiled experience of Third Density.

We don't really understand what is going on...

Deep down there may be an underlying sense of disconnect, abandonment and loneliness...

With the right mindset, though, this can transmute into the pursuit of connection. A seeking of unity and a realisation of who you really are.

It wasn't always like this, though! In fact, there was a time when the Veil of forgetting didn't exist at all.

How the Veil of Forgetting Came to Be

To properly understand what life was like pre-veil, it's worth going over some Law of One basics...

So life as we know it came about because The Logos chose to know itself and experience itself.

It created a type of virtual reality, an experiment in consciousness... Within this octave of creation, this manifested as the 7 Densities of Consciousness.

The Third Density, which is where we are now, is the density of choice where fragments of the one infinite creator - individuated consciousness - come into existence to have experiences and interactions with "other-selves".

The goal, to put it bluntly, is to polarise. This loosely translates to choosing to serve.

The problem was that before the veil of forgetting, even though there were seemingly separate beings (called mind/body/spirits), they were all aware that they were part of the unity of creation.

In other words, serving another self was synonymous with serving the creator.

Hence, these individualised portions of consciousness were always aware of their divine connection.

The Biggest Problem of Life Before the Veil

When Don asked Ra what life was like before the veil, Ra said:

I am Ra. It is our perception that such conditions created the situation of a most pallid experiential nexus in which lessons were garnered with the relative speed of the turtle to the cheetah. - RA

What Ra is saying is that before the veil life was quite boring!

Imagine putting on a play, a theatrical performance, where the goal is to learn how to love others...

but all the roles are played by yourself. Not only that, but the only audience member is also you, too!

How can you immerse yourself in a role where you already know all the nuances of every scene and character, and know the beginning, middle and end of every story?

So one can imagine why the need for a veil came to be.

From the greatest perspective, the Logos decided that pre-veil life was not working as intended.

Lessons were taking too long to learn and there wasn't enough progression. People kept repeating Third Density many times over...

Well, how does one progress through Third Density? It's all about polarisation.

Simply put, there was no need for it. Why change something that is Divinely perfect?

Ra likens this situation of entities not choosing to polarise to children in school:

The entity is fed, clothed, and protected regardless of whether or not the schoolwork is accomplished. Therefore, the entity does not do the homework but rather enjoys playtime, mealtime, and vacation. It is not until there is a reason to wish to excel that most entities will attempt to excel. - RA

How can you polarise/ choose to serve with an underlying awareness of divine connection?

So the biggest problem, and why the veil was introduced, was the lack of will to progress.

And so, it was introduced with the intention to promote spiritual seeking.

Life Before the Veil of Forgetting Was Too Comfortable

So in the Law of One material, Don questioned Ra in hopes of discovering the mechanics and motives regarding the veil.

Don asked about the life review process, if there was one in place before the veil of forgetting came to be.

The life review process happens in between lives and it's when we look back on previous incarnations - see and experience how we treated others, set goals for future lives so we may begin to learn more virtues and become more whole...

Ra says there was a life review process in place before the veil. However, Ra compares Third Density life before the veil to living with an umbilical cord to the Creator.

Ra gives two crucial quotes that really shape a lot of the Law of One teachings for me...

"There is the overwhelming awareness of the Creator in the self. The connection with the Creator is that of the umbilical cord. The security is total. Therefore, no love is terribly important; no pain terribly frightening; no effort, therefore, is made to serve for love or to benefit from fear."

and " Where there has been no harm there need be no healing." - RA

I could philosophise on these quotes, and like I said, they encapsulate the Ra material very well.

Realising your true nature - the One infinite Creator - all else falls away into illusion. However, we live in a veiled reality. The illusion we live in has become reality for us - it's real. We live seemingly real experiences.

Think about it...

Why are the things you value important?

Where do your values come from?

Why are the ones you love important?

Whether it's family or friends, it's the experiences you've been through together that count

Whether it's the abundant love and nurture offered, or the hardships suffered and conquered in unity...

The sense of connection is what counts and is what we strive for.

"Where there has been no harm there need be no healing." - RA

How can you heal, grow and learn without being hurt first?

The veil brought in the first level of disconnect and the original spiritual wound. The veil introduced catalyst for spiritual growth.

Catalyst and the Original Wound

With the introduction of the veil of forgetting in Third Density, everything changed.

The nurturing umbilical cord to the Creator was seemingly cut. Our Divine connection apparently severed.

This is known as the Original Spiritual Wound and all primary catalyst springboards off of this.

It gave us a reason for spiritual growth. A motive to strive towards helping others or to move away from fear.

Before the veil, pain was merely an alarm system. It would alert an entity of an issue, it would be dealt with and then the pain blocked. Job done.

Nowadays, pain is far more complex. It functions as catalyst for spiritual growth.

Firstly, we cannot simply choose to block pain, we don't have easy access to higher parts of ourselves that have this capability...

Pain isn't just physical either... it is a reflection of emotional and spiritual imbalances that stem from our separation, disconnect and disharmony from others. They hurt me, they did this. I'm angry at this person (I'm really angry at myself).

Before the veil, catalyst wasn't really catalyst. It was seen as simply a part of the One Infinite Creator and not the cause of another self.

"The anger of separation is impossible without the veil. The lack of awareness of the body’s need for liquid is unlikely without the veil. The decision to contemplate perfection in discipline is quite improbable without the veil." - RA

Our human experience continuously offers us a choice between love and fear. We can simply choose to move away from pain and fear.

We can take it a step further and strive to help and serve others out of love. We have free will. We have a choice. This is polarity.

Service to Self Path

In fact, another by-product of the veil of forgetting is the Service to Self path - Negative Polarity.

This did not exist prior to the veiling.

Remember, Third-Density experience is all about society.

How we interact with and treat others. Before the veil, there was no separation from the Creator. Therefore it was impossible to be selfish/ self-serving at the core of your being.

The Veil of Forgetting introduced the Ego - the sense of self, separate from the other.

Before the veil, one's activities couldn't suppress or control others. However, after the veil, this became more than viable...

The negative polarity and its forms of fear and control came into existence after the veil, and became a great spiritual catalyst.

Graduation into 4th Density

Graduating to the next density of consciousness in Law of One terms is called harvest.

Ra explains that the conditions for 4th Density Harvest were the same before and after the veil.

It's all about how much divine light you can process.

The issue before veiling was the lack of will to progress, so although everyone was blissed out, over a period of time, there wasn't much growth.

However, the implementation of the veil of forgetting introduced the concept of negative and positive polarity - service to self and service to others...

Spiritual Catalyst became a thing and now mind/body/spirit complexes had a reason to begin their spiritual evolution.

The Pre-Veil Experience and Graduation

Ra talks about the densities of consciousness and compares them to a staircase.

Each step is imbued with a certain quality of light. There's a definitive barrier, a vibration or level of resistance between each one.

To go from one density to another requires an amount of energy and strength. A desire of mind, a degree of penetration into spiritual evolution.

The pre-veil experience and physical incarnation held extreme potential, but the link to Intelligent Infinity and the comforts of eternal existence gave no importance to cultivating willpower.

Graduation After the Veil

After the veil, the concept of polarisation was introduced into our spiritual evolution.

Now, others are seen as separate. In fact, now Ra calls beings in Third Density mind/body/spirit complexes. Prior to the veil, it was simply mind/body/spirits.

With the addition of the veil, mind/body/spirit complexes became a type of closed circuit (separate/ veiled) and that's why the complex part was added.

Now, during physical incarnation we can choose the positive or negative path - to either serve others in love or control and live in fear.

Achieving 51% Service-to-Others (positive polarity) is the same as taking the step up to 4th Density positive.

4th Density negative is an extremely confused path and requires 95% Service-to-Self (Negative Polarity).

"Those entities which do not do their homework, be they ever so amiable, shall not cross." - RA.

Here is an epic quote from Ra. No matter how friendly you appear, if you don't do your work, you won't progress.

You could be the kindest and friendliest person. However, if you're not doing your homework - if you're not acting on your spiritual catalyst and actively putting in the effort to be of service - you will not progress to the next level of awareness and density of experience.

Third Density is about choosing to polarise, choosing to serve and requires work and dedication.

Is the Veil of Forgetting a Blessing in Disguise?

"Thusly, the experiences, both good and bad, or joyful and sad, of the mind/body/spirit before veiling would be pale, without vibrancy or the keen edge of interest that such brings in the post-veiling mind/body/spirit complex." - RA

In conclusion, the veil of forgetting that descends upon us at birth may seem like a hindrance, but it is actually a blessing in disguise.

As Ra explains, the experiences we have now are more vibrant and interesting than those we had before.

While some people may be interested in piercing or thinning the veil to discover past lives or other spiritual knowledge, the best way to experience the fullness of life is to embrace the present moment and live with an open and accepting heart.

This puts us in tune with creation and allows us to fully appreciate the experiences we have here on this planet.

We are here to learn. Earth life is a school and the lesson is love.

So let us embrace the veil of forgetting as a necessary component of our spiritual journey, and trust that each moment is an opportunity to learn and grow.

The Veil of Forgetting and the Poker Game Analogy

One of my favourite quotes and analogies in the Law of One is this poker game analogy given by Ra.

Don essentially asks, what is the point in the Veil of Forgetting? Why must be we plan our paths and then forget it all?

Here is what Ra had to say:

Ra: I am Ra. Let us give the example of the man who sees all the poker hands. He then knows the game. It is but child’s play to gamble, for it is no risk. The other hands are known. The possibilities are known and the hand will be played correctly but with no interest.

In time/space and in the true-color green density, the hands of all are open to the eye. The thoughts, the feelings, the troubles, all these may be seen.

There is no deception and no desire for deception. Thus much may be accomplished in harmony but the mind/body/spirit gains little polarity from this interaction.

Let us re-examine this metaphor and multiply it into the longest poker game you can imagine, a lifetime.

The cards are love, dislike, limitation, unhappiness, pleasure, etc. They are dealt and re-dealt and re-dealt continuously.

You may, during this incarnation begin — and we stress begin — to know your own cards.

You may begin to find the love within you. You may begin to balance your pleasure, your limitations, etc.

However, your only indication of other-selves’ cards is to look into the eyes.

You cannot remember your hand, their hands, perhaps even the rules of this game. This game can only be won by those who lose their cards in the melting influence of love; can only be won by those who lay their pleasures, their limitations, their all upon the table face up and say inwardly: “All, all of you players, each other-self, whatever your hand, I love you.”

This is the game: to know, to accept, to forgive, to balance, and to open the self in love. This cannot be done without the forgetting, for it would carry no weight in the life of the mind/body/spirit beingness totality.

I'll leave you now with a passage from Your Sacred Self. It's a parable that always brings a tear to my eye.

It's a great representation of our relationship with ourselves, each other, and the Universe.

Conversation in the Womb – A Parable of Life After Delivery

A passage from Your Sacred Self by Dr. Wayne Dyer:

In a mother’s womb were two babies.

One asked the other: Do you believe in life after delivery?

The other replied, Why, of course. There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.”

“Nonsense” said the first. “There is no life after delivery. What kind of life would that be?”

The second said, “I don’t know, but there will be more light than here. Maybe we will walk with our legs and eat from our mouths. Maybe we will have other senses that we can’t understand now.”

The first replied, “That is absurd. Walking is impossible. And eating with our mouths? Ridiculous! The umbilical cord supplies nutrition and everything we need. But the umbilical cord is so short. Life after delivery is to be logically excluded.”

The second insisted, “Well I think there is something and maybe it’s different than it is here. Maybe we won’t need this physical cord anymore.”

The first replied, “Nonsense. And moreover if there is life, then why has no one has ever come back from there? Delivery is the end of life, and in the after-delivery there is nothing but darkness and silence and oblivion. It takes us nowhere.”

“Well, I don’t know,” said the second, “but certainly we will meet Mother and she will take care of us.”

The first replied “Mother? You actually believe in Mother? That’s laughable. If Mother exists then where is She now?”

The second said, “She is all around us. We are surrounded by her. We are of Her. It is in Her that we live. Without Her this world would not and could not exist.”

Said the first: “Well I don’t see Her, so it is only logical that She doesn’t exist.”

To which the second replied, “Sometimes, when you’re in silence and you focus and you really listen, you can perceive Her presence, and you can hear Her loving voice, calling down from above.”
