Everything in the universe is interconnected.
Unseen forces weave and shape the fabric of reality...
In the Umbanda tradition, these forces are known as the 7 Divine Thrones.
What if I told you that, as smaller fractals of the whole, we have access to this infinite power by connecting to these sacred forces and activating their energies?
This is the essence of Divine Magic—a form of high magic, also known as theurgic magic, brought to us by the visionary Rubens Saraceni through his celestial guides.
Divine Magic isn't just a mystical concept. It's a transformative practice that allows you to harness the profound energies of the universe for the highest good.
By choosing to align with these sacred forces, you can call on them and activate their powers.
This includes clearing negative energies, promoting healing, and protecting yourself and your loved ones—all by connecting to the higher divine realms.
I grew up around these practices. They have been a part of my spiritual upbringing.
When I was initiated into Divine Magic and started practicing in my 20s, I truly began to understand how powerful this really is.
There are infinitely mighty beings ready to act on your call, as long as you align with the highest good of the Universe.
This practice is rooted in white magic, designed for positive transformation and the highest good. You can't use it for harm—only to bring about healing, protection, and spiritual growth.
Rubens Saraceni unveiled these ancient secrets, offering us a path to not only understand the universe but to actively engage with it.
Who is Rubens Saraceni?
Rubens Saraceni was a renowned medium and a pivotal figure in the world of Umbanda.
Born in Osvaldo Cruz, São Paulo, in 1951, Rubens discovered Umbanda, a Brazilian spiritual tradition that blends African, Indigenous, and Catholic elements.
Check out my post on Umbanda here, if you're interested.
Through this path, he developed a profound connection with his spiritual guides and honed his ability in automatic writing, also known as psychography.
Rubens psychographed more than 60 books, which serve as a foundational body of work for Umbanda practitioners.
These texts delve into the esoteric mysteries of the universe, offering insights and teachings that were once the purview of ancient mystics.
His guides from the higher astral planes revealed to him the secrets of Divine Magic.
With this divine knowledge, Rubens used these magical mysteries to heal people and bring about positive change.
Over time, he was granted the authority to teach others this sacred practice, thus giving birth to the tradition of Divine Magic.
The information he brought forth explains many of the esoteric mysteries we encounter today, bridging ancient wisdom with modern spiritual practice.
A personal mission of Rubens was to initiate 7,777 students into the first degree of magic unsealed by the divine—the Divine Magic of the 7 Sacred Flames, more simply known as Fire Magic.
This mission underscores his commitment to spreading this profound knowledge and empowering others to harness its transformative power.
Rubens' legacy continues to inspire and guide those seeking deeper spiritual understanding and connection.
His life's work offers us a path to not only understand the universe but to actively engage with it.
What is Magic?
Magic is the act of evoking powers and divine mysteries and putting them into action.
It allows us to benefit ourselves while serving others.
However, only those who have been initiated can activate and deactivate magic.
The divinities will only recognise those who have gone through the initiatory stages revealed in the mystery school.
Magic is the activation or deactivation of the mysteries of the Universe —The 7 Thrones of God.
It involves the “manipulation” of mental, energetic, elemental, and natural mysteries and divine powers.
Through specific invoking rituals, these energies and mysteries are put into action.
There is divine within everything— The whole of creation is divine in nature.
It is all connected and, at the highest level, is One.
Vibratory waves irradiate from these governing principles (Thrones of God) in every direction, infinitely throughout creation.
Religious Acts vs. Magical Acts
Religious acts and magical acts often intertwine, but they are not the same.
Imagine lighting a candle and consecrating it to God or the Divine Thrones with deep faith and reverence.
This act is both magical and religious.
Your faith fuels its power, bringing you benefits. However, the reach of this act is limited by the strength of your faith.
Divine Magic, however, takes it a step further. It is a purely magical act that can only be performed by those initiated into its mysteries.
It involves calling upon the Divine Thrones, and without proper initiation, one risks attracting unwanted karma.
The Divine Thrones will not respond to evocations made by those who are not initiated into the mystery.
The power of the Divine Thrones is limitless.
Their energy and influence are boundless, making Divine Magic a potent and transformative practice.
The Divine Thrones are the forces behind the fabric of reality itself, their emanations form the sacred geometry and cosmic web that we are a part of.
Sigil Magic and Written Magic (Magia Riscada) within Divine Magic
A key component of Divine Magic is the use of "Magia Riscada," a term in Portuguese that literally translates to "scratched magic."
Imagine inscribing symbols or runes, each stroke charged with intention and power.
In Umbanda, when entities manifest through mediums, they often write their sigils with chalk on the floor, creating powerful links with the divine.
In Divine Magic, these symbols, lines, and curves are explained.
They serve as resonant links with the higher astral planes and the divine principles, manifestations in the material realm from spirit.
Speaking and writing are inherently magical acts—It’s pure manifestation.
When you speak, you create vibrations with your voice, manifesting words out of thin air.
The words and sounds you choose, and the order they’re in, hold significant power.
Think of spelling—each word is a magic spell.
In Divine Magic, the written symbols have their vibrational counterparts.
Picture the microcosm meeting the macrocosm in a synchronistic moment.
By drawing, writing, or inscribing these symbols, you activate the divinity related to that symbol, bringing its power into your practice.
Old Magic
In one of Rubens Saraceni’s books, he recounts a pivotal moment in his journey after the Divine mysteries were revealed to him. Driven by an insatiable curiosity, he embarked on a quest for books that could shed more light on these profound secrets.
One book, in particular, stood out—Francis Barrett's "Magus," first published in 1801.
This tome has been a cornerstone for scholars of magic, a compilation of ancient wisdom from the 16th century and even earlier.
Barrett's meticulous research brought together the fragmented pieces of old magic, creating a comprehensive guide that has influenced magicians for the last 200 years.
However, because it is a compilation of various works, some of the occult fundamentals are missing.
Imagine the magicians of old, much like Rubens, being contacted by their Angels and spirits.
They received esoteric knowledge directly from these celestial beings.
Yet, over the centuries, much of this original wisdom has been diluted, copied, and sometimes lost.
The true essence of these teachings often remains hidden or a mystery lost in time.
For magic to be effective, magicians need to be initiated into the practice with the deity linked to the sigil.
Without this initiation, the magic sigils and symbols are mere ink on paper, devoid of their intended power.
Many modern practitioners have compiled information without truly understanding or experiencing the initiation process, leading to practices that lack the depth and potency of true magic.
Magick vs. Magic
What’s the difference between Magick and Magic?
Honestly, it's purely aesthetics.
The term "Magick" with a “k” was popularized by Aleister Crowley.
He used it to differentiate the serious, ritualistic practices of high magic from the sleight-of-hand tricks performed by stage magicians.
In essence, both terms refer to the same profound practices we’ve been discussing. You can choose whichever term resonates with you.
Personally, I prefer "magic." To me, “Magick” can come off as a bit pretentious.
But hey, to each their own! If "Magick" speaks to you, go ahead and use it. The power lies in the practice, not the spelling… or does it?
How is Divine Magic Performed?
The Path to Becoming a Divine Magic Adept
To perform Divine Magic, one must first embark on a journey of learning and initiation.
The adept must go through a comprehensive course that delves into the divine thrones, the sigils, the symbols, and how they represent the energetic and vibratory waves that link all of creation.
There is a vow of secrecy. The adept is not allowed to disclose the secrets of the divine mysteries they have been initiated into.
However, I can share some basic information.
You learn about how magic spaces and magic circles work—not just what sigils to put in, but their meaning and functionality.
You also learn what the sacred geometry represents. This knowledge allows you to craft specific magic spaces with purpose and intention.
The experience involves a series of initiations to be able to work with certain divinities and thrones, lots of practical help, and a consecration ceremony. This is where you "graduate" and become a practitioner.
When an adept has unlocked the degree of divine magic they’re working with, they can use it.
Divine Magic can be performed mentally and even on the go. However, the most common and effective way is by creating a magic space or magic circle.
This requires a bit more ritual, as you need to gather the necessary components.
Magic Spaces, Magic Circles, and Mandalas
To open a space in Divine Magic, you must have been initiated into the degree of magic you will be working with.
My family and I usually call these mandalas because they are so geometrical and often quite intricate and beautiful.
We might say, “I opened a space, by the way,” or “there’s a mandala in the garden.”
But we’re always talking about a magic space opened with a specific degree of divine mystery.
Going into a Mandala or Magic Space
Once a space is open, as long as it is big enough, you can go inside and have incredible spiritual healing experiences.
I do have an aunt known for her very small magic spaces, though!
A magic space acts as a type of portal.
The divine magic adept determines how it will work, from the way it is physically constructed (which geometry is used, what sigils are included, and so on) to the mental determinations made by the adept.
Think of it like a computer program where you input the desired magical outcome.
This will always include protection and energy clearing at the very least—removing negativity, wayward spirits, negative portals, and clearing the home.
It also involves balancing energy centres, removing blockages, and promoting healing and good health.
Being Treated in Magic Spaces
Once a space is open, people can go inside to receive a spiritual cleanse and healing.
The first thing a Divine Magic adept or practitioner does is go into the space themselves. This clears them of any unwanted energy they may be carrying and provides them with any necessary healings.
Then, others can enter. This is a monitored experience. The “owner” of the mandala or magic space guides the person through the experience, aiding with removing blockages and performing the skills and techniques learned in the course.
My family has spiritual centres in Brazil, and there are always magic spaces open there.
It’s a great way to cleanse yourself of unwanted energy and reset.
What to Expect Inside a Magic Space
Going into a magic space is… magical.
The whole experience can last from 15 minutes to about an hour or more, depending on what happens.
It’s a unique and sometimes strange experience.
You walk in from a specific direction and exit from another (the practitioner will guide you) and stand in the centre.
There may be a central element like a candle, or there may not be—it depends on the type of magic space.
While inside, you do your best to elevate your mind and thoughts and meditate.
The energy is tangible.
Your mind may get in the way, but the secret to healing is letting go and letting the divine principles do the work.
You feel the energy swirling around. Those gifted with clairvoyance may actually see the colours and energies fractaling off and spiraling in the magical portal.
You might experience a blockage or feel pain in a specific area of your body. The Divine Magic practitioner will work with you to clear it.
Often, your feet will get really heavy. This is very common. Depending on how “bad” your situation is—meaning how much heavy energy you’re carrying—you may get dizzy.
The practitioner will guide and help you through it.
It’s like carrying a heavy rucksack that gets pulled off your back; you might lose your balance a bit until you find your footing.
Some people may cry, experiencing a powerful spiritual release.
Personally, I always yawn—it makes me so sleepy after the initial cleansing.
I’ve been told that yawning happens because your 7 energetic bodies are re-aligning!
There is a golden rule when it comes to being treated in a mandala/magic space:
You should only leave a magic space once any pain or heaviness has completely gone.
You don’t want to take anything with you!
Degrees of Divine Magic I Have Unlocked
As a practitioner of Divine Magic, I've been initiated into several degrees of magical practice. Each degree offers unique insights and powers, tapping evermore into the mystery of the cosmos. Here's a brief overview of the degrees I've unlocked:
Divine Magic of the 7 Sacred Flames
The journey into Divine Magic begins with the Magic of the 7 Sacred Flames.
This is the first Divine mystery teaching that an adept must learn—it's the foundation course.
Candles are powerful symbols of transformation and transmutation.
You learn all about the vibratory waves irradiated by the candles.
Each candle emanates a specific type of wave, unseen to most but visible to those with clairvoyant abilities.
Each Divine Throne has certain energies associated with it, and colours represent specific frequencies.
Therefore, depending on the colour of the candle, different energies emanate from the flame with unique properties.
In ancient times, fire mages would light their pyres with specific types of wood to harness particular energies. Similarly, the type of candle and its colour determine the vibratory waves it emits.
We are constantly interacting with our surroundings. Our chakras and sub-chakras emanate, receive, and interact with this cosmic web of energies.
Elemental Magic (Magia Divina dos Elementais)
Elemental Magic works with the seven fundamental "elements" of nature—air, earth, water, fire, minerals, herbs/vegetation, and crystals.
These aren’t the physical elements themselves, but the vibratory signatures behind them that give rise to the elements.
This practice involves understanding and harnessing the energies of elemental beings and the natural elements.
You learn about the combinations of these elements and how they interact within the magical realm.
This is a powerful and diverse form of magic, as these elements can be found everywhere.
Divine Magic of the Seven Sacred Herbs (Magia Divina das Sete Ervas Sagradas)
Plants and herbs have long been used for healing, but this magical practice delves deeper into their energies and vibrations—their magical properties.
The Seven Sacred Herbs aren't specific plants but represent seven distinct types of energy related to the Divine Thrones.
Flowers, sap, leaves, stalks, seeds, powders, and fruits all possess different magical properties.
For example, a white rose and a red rose, though the same type of plant, are used magically in very different ways due to their distinct energies.
Divine Magic of the 7 Sacred Stones (Magia Divina das 7 Pedras Sagradas)
This Divine mystery focuses on the energies of rocks, minerals, crystals, and metals. It's not about seven specific stones but about the types of energies behind them.
Just like candles, the energies emitted by these “stones” are complex, varied and beautiful.
The seven divine creating principles are linked to the formation of rocks and minerals, similar to the seven forms of growth studied in gemology—cubic, tetragonal, hexagonal, etc.
The structure of these stones affects their shape, the light they hold, their colour, and the way light reflects off them.
These properties can be called upon and activated within magical practices.
Conclusion: Unveiling Magical Mysteries
Exploring the realms of Divine Magic offers a glimpse into the profound interconnectedness of the universe.
It's a journey that reveals the hidden energies and vibrations that influence our lives in ways we might never have imagined.
Each degree of magic, from the sacred flames to the elemental forces, opens a doorway to deeper understanding and awe.
As we uncover these mysteries, we begin to see the world through a different lens.
The ordinary becomes extraordinary, and the mundane reveals its hidden layers of significance.
The colours of a candle flame, the structure of a crystal, and the essence of a herb all become symbols of a greater cosmic dance, each playing its part in this magical universe.
The magical knowledge of how energies interact, how symbols and rituals can shape reality, and how the divine principles manifest in the natural world is not just about acquiring information—it's about experiencing a shift in perception.
It's about recognising the sacred in the everyday and understanding that we are all part of a grand, interconnected web of life.
As you reflect on these teachings, consider the broader implications.
How might this understanding of Divine Magic influence your perspective on life?
How can it inspire you to see the beauty and mystery in the world around you?
The journey of Divine Magic is not just about rituals and symbols— it's about awakening to the deeper truths that bind us all.
The mysteries of Divine Magic offer not just answers, but new questions and new possibilities.
Embrace the wonder and let it guide you to new horizons of thought and understanding.
